Why we do it?
Fund raisers are a way for us to give back to our community that has supported us since 1978. Our salon is very unique, and therefore we came up with unique fund raisers. We are proud of West Seattle, and will continue to support it by giving back in our own unique ways.
Other ways we give back...
In addition to these larger fund raisers, we also donate services and products to over 60 other community events, members, and organizations. These include and are not limited to West Seattle Hi-Yu, Seafair, West Seattle Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary of West Seattle. We also donate to private and public school fund raisers and auctions.

Giving Back
...We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization that began right here at Illusions in 1995 with a simple mission: Raise money to purchase basic back-to-school supplies for local grade school kids who couldn’t afford them. Since then, we have been able to raise enough funds to supply over $80,000 worth of supplies due to generous donations from local businesses and people just like you!
We accept new supply donations, as well as provide different fundraising opportunities throughout the year. We host benefit dinners at The West Seattle Eagles & hold both a Car Wash and a funding event by selling “Paper Pencils” at our location (along with other West Seattle Businesses) during the month of July.
We currently work with up to 11 grade schools (West Seattle to South Park). We get lists from Family Support Workers of the supplies needed for the kids who qualify for this program. We receive donated supplies, and purchase a majority at discounted bulk cost through local businesses, including “Staples” at Westwood TowneCenter.
100% of all monies raised from donations go to support the program. By teaming up with Rotary Club of West Seattle & other local businesses, we are able to make our mission possible.
We accept cash & new school supply donations. Checks can be made payable to “Rotary Club of West Seattle” (a 501C non-profit), please note “Pencil me in for Kids” in the memo line.

Since 1994, our staff has donated their time to work the
Sunday before Valentine’s Day.
On that day, we perform a limited number of haircuts (at reduced prices), and DONATE ALL monies raised to a local charity.
West Seattle Helpline, West Seattle FoodBank, ArtsWest, West Side Baby,
The West Seattle Senior Center, Pencil me in for Kids,
and others have benefited from this program.

Based on availability, we offer these complimentary cuts
*Wednesdays & Thursdays from 12-2:30
(*Other times do become available, please call for updated openings.)
Don't forget...All hair-care items purchased are also discounted 15%
at the time of your "LOL" appointment!
(*"LOL" haircut appointments are limited, and must be pre-booked.)
-----If there are no openings available for a specified date or time,
we may ask for your name and phone #,
and we will call you if an opening becomes available.
Don't forget: You may also donate previously cut hair
by requesting a donation slip at the "LOL" website,
and follow their instructions.

Illusions will accept "Locks of Love" haircut appointments.
We will perform *FREE haircuts for those who wish to donate hair to this program.
