COVID-19: RE-OPENING SALON PROTOCOLS***
Due to enhanced safety/sanitization protocols for salon/barber shops to re-open after the state mandated closure on March 16th, we have put the following required policies in place as part of our re-opening process. These are in place in order to provide the safest possible environment for our clients and staff. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY. The following contains the most up to date information as of 9/1/20, and may change depending on various county/state information. For those traveling from outside of West Seattle, remember to give yourself extra time since the WEST SEATTLE BRIDGE is CLOSED. *PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST COMPLETE & SUBMIT THE WAIVER AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE PRIOR TO CALLING TO SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
IF YOU ARE SICK:
If you are showing or feeling sick from ANY illness, please STAY HOME. When possible, please try to give as much notice in cancelling your appointment(s), but please know if you are displaying ANY symptoms, you will not be allowed entry, and will not be allowed to return until you are symptom free. You can find more information relating to the COVID-19 virus, including symptoms, HERE. For quarantine guidelines, please visit the CDC website HERE. Should you get sick/show symptoms of ANY illness while you are in the salon, you will be asked to leave immediately.
BY APPOINTMENT ONLY :
We are NOT accepting any "Walk-In" appointments at this time. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE SALON WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT. ONLY clients WITH appointments will be allowed to enter the salon during business hours (for entry requirements, see below). If you have a scheduled appointment, you will NOT be allowed to bring a guest, including children, (unless they too have a scheduled appointment).
***YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR COVID-19 WAIVER PRIOR TO CALLING TO SCHEDULE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT. If you have previously filled one out, we have it on file, and ask that you continue to monitor your health, and NOT schedule an appointment if you would answer your original waiver questions differently, or feel unwell for ANY other reasons***
The ONLY way clients will be able to schedule an appointment is if we have received a completed waiver. THIS WILL BE A REQUIREMENT OF ALL CLIENTS FOR EVERY APPOINTMENT DATE, AT LEAST THROUGH PHASE 3.
That waiver is at the bottom of this page. Should you call and ask for an appointment without us having received it, we will not be able to book your appointment.
*****ALL clients, NEW or EXISTING are required to have an appointment prior to entry. We are still not accepting "walk-in" appointments.*****
Due to capacity restrictions and for your safety, the following services will NOT be allowed until further notice:
• NO BLOW DRY STYLING (nor the use of hood dryers). *Dryers/hood dryers will be not be used in the salon as to reduce both the time spent in the salon, and to limit the air flow within the salon. This means you will not be getting a finished style, and we will NOT be scheduling "style only" appointments. All clients will leave with wet hair. (We understand that some salons are using blow dryers, as it is not a state mandated restriction, but their use in ALL Beauty Salons & Barber Shops is DISCOURAGED BY THE CDC - read the updated information as of 8/26/20 HERE. We will continue NOT to do blow-dry styling in order to provide a safer environment for our staff & clients, as COVID-19 is an airborne virus.) We may alter this protocol once the CDC alters its guidelines and says it is safe to do so.
• To avoid extensive close contact, and because ALL clients are required to wear facial coverings we will NOT be performing ANY "Beard Trims" or facial hair removal (waxing) services.
• We will NOT be performing STRAIGHTENING SERVICES, as they require the use of extensive use of blow dryers.
• AS OF JULY 6: Corrective Colors, Bleach & Tone, FULL FOIL or FOIL+, etc., services are NOW being scheduled on a case-by-case basis. *Please note that we acknowledge that with some color/bleaching services, a "quick" dry may be needed prior to an added toner service (as per our color line instructions for application), and we will limit these services based on salon capacity and time of the appointment in the salon. We may require a deposit, prior to booking. (Deposit based on type of service(s) required.) Unsure of what color service you need? Call us and we can chat about it over the phone.
Washington State Guidelines restrict our capacity, altering our daily operations. (NOTE: PHASE 2 & 3 restricts our capacity to 50%. King County is in PHASE 2.) Our 3 stylists (Monica, Anna & *Rita) are working limited daily hours, and from Sept 14 - Oct 2 we will be OPEN Mon/Tues 12-8, Wed 10-6, Thurs 10-5 and Friday 9:30-4. *Rita will not be her from Sept 15 - Oct 2. Our lobby will NOT be used for extended waiting times before or after any appointment. We ask that you leave the salon once your service transaction at the front desk has been completed. Our lobby will remain CLOSED to those without appointments, be clear of ALL reading materials, and we will NOT be offering any refreshments. (Please note: NANCY may return for limited hours beginning sometime in October or November, but her health and CDC recommendations will dictate when those with compromised immune systems are suggested to return).
When you arrive for your scheduled appointment, we ask that you remain outside or in your vehicle. CALL us to let us know you have arrived.
With capacity restrictions, we still ask that you remain in your car until we let you know when you can come to the door for a temperature check. DO NOT COME TO THE FRONT DOOR ASKING TO ENTER. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER UNTIL WE CONTACT YOU VIA CALL.
ALL clients will be required to have a member of our team take your temperature with our no-contact thermometer prior to entry. If you are running a fever (over 99.4°), you will NOT be allowed to enter, as a high temperature may indicate that you are carrying/have the virus. You will NOT be allowed to return until your temperature is lower, are symptom free, and/or have given yourself ample quarantine from the risk of exposing others. (If you have no other symptoms and have tested negative, we suggest waiting at least 72 hours until you call to reschedule.) Again, if you feel ill, STAY HOME. You can find more information relating to the COVID-19 virus, including symptoms, HERE. For quarantine guidelines, please visit the CDC website HERE.
Immediately upon entry, ALL clients will be REQUIRED to wash their hands with soap & warm water for more than 20 seconds before their stylist takes them to a station for their service(s). We will provide hand sanitizers located throughout the salon, but HAND WASHING is REQUIRED upon entry, and is recommended when at all possible.
ALL clients (age 2+) MUST provide and wear their own facial protectant mask. We will NOT provide you a mask. (Please refer to the state regulations regarding the use of masks in public HERE.) NO ONE MAY ENTER THE SALON WITHOUT ONE. If you feel you are in a high-risk group, or cannot wear a mask at this time, we ask that you wait to schedule your appointment. We cannot be 6 feet or more from you while performing hair services, therefore Washington State guidelines (at this stage) REQUIRE EVERYONE in our business to wear a mask. NO EXCEPTIONS. Masks MUST be worn at all times (except at the shampoo bowl, see below). They should be comfortable and either simple toss-away or reusable cloth, and MUST be "loop ear" style. NO "around the head bands", "bandana", or "wrap" full face style will be allowed. We can't cut or color hair if your facial covering is on or attached around your head in any way. (Note: N95 masks are not mandatory for businesses unless a specific company requires their use, or if you work in a healthcare/hospital environment where possible exposure to the virus is much higher). Our staff will be wearing a variety of styles, based on comfort and personal protection.
COLOR CLIENTS: If you are getting a COLOR SERVICE, please know that color may get on your mask and it will stain, so toss-away ones might be a better option for you. We are not responsible/liable if color gets on your mask.
ALL children 2+ are REQUIRED to wear a mask during their haircut, and hold a TOWEL on their face while at the shampoo bowl. If you feel your child cannot adhere to this, PLEASE do not schedule an appointment for them at this time.
WHILE AT THE
Washington State Guidelines mandates that ALL clients at the shampoo bowl use a TOWEL to cover your eyes, in addition to wearing a mask that covers your nose & mouth. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. This not only provides optimal safety for close contact exposure, but will also ensure that the mask you have brought remains DRY.
--> If you are coming in for a HAIRCUT ONLY, and you would like to reduce close-contact exposure, you may choose to come into the salon with clean & conditioned hair. We will wet your hair down either at a stylist station with fine mist, or quickly at the shampoo bowl. If you would prefer a complete wash/condition, we will absolutely do that for you! You can come in with wet/dry/dirty/clean hair.
--> If you are scheduled for a COLOR SERVICE, PLEASE COME IN WITH DRY HAIR.
To reduce the handling of cash, ONLY CHECKS OR DEBIT/CREDIT CARDS will be accepted. NO CASH, PLEASE. When using a credit card, please know that no signature will be required for you purchase. You will not be asked to sign a receipt slip. For a truly "contactless" form of payment, we suggest using "VISA PAY" or "APPLE PAY" or "TAP-TO-PAY" upon checkout. Please refer to your cell phone device for how to install and use these forms of payment, or your bank to see if your card has the appropriate chip embedded within it.
We will ONLY be scheduling appointments THREE WEEKS AT A TIME. This means we will not be accepting pre-booked appointments for your next service when you check out. As licensed professionals, our team MUST adhere to any rules/regulations from the state. Because there are still too many unknowns that the state may decide to change or implement moving forward, we find that NOT scheduling more than three weeks at a time is the best decision for everyone. This may change once more phases of the state are allowed to open.
***Please understand that this list may be change at ANY time based on Washington State guidelines. Current Personal Service GUIDELINES for Phase 2 & Phase 3 (Washington State) can be found HERE.
